The fictional story is based on real stories of people in the Netherlands and Germany who were in the middle of the war. ”I have heard stories from
people who usually did not speak about it. But when they were among fellow sufferers, the stories came up and they experienced all the situations
again, the pain, the hope, disappointments but also moments of joy. I feel honored to have heard these stories and felt it my duty to record them. It
shows a mirror to a past. But because these sounds have barely been heard, this story literally lies in the Shadow of Truth. I hope it gives people
more insight into the brutality of war. In addition, it shows all the shades of gray that make it painfully clear that not all of the enemy was bad, just as
not all of the victor was good.”
The book will be presented on Saturday afternoon, December 10, in Proeflokaal Spiritum at Rijtuigweg 44 in Bergen op Zoom, between 3:00 PM and

5:00 PM. The walk-in starts at 2:30 PM. Angelique de Groot will take care of the musical accompaniment. At the presentation are publishing house
Boekenindustrie, Maarten van Eekelen, Paul Versijp. From December 10 onwards, the book will also be available in all bookstores in the Netherlands.
