The story of Jaap, and his companions, on many sides of history is underscored by his youthful sense of adventure, and the horrible truth of war. A
very simple account of a defining time in world history and refreshing in its story telling.

As a child of of WW11, l found this book so interesting. The story of Jaap had me hooked . He was taken from his home against his will and some of
the things he saw horrified him, but he also found kindness and friendship in a foreign country at war with his own.

This book is an excellent look at the reality of war - how even in a war, many things & many people are not black & white. Using real life accounts
to weave a tale of historical fiction makes this book truly "come to life". Highly recommend for thos einterested in WW II & anyone interested in
human nature.
